Balurghat College, established in 1948, is a provider of Bachelor and P.G. level education. The college is fully responsive to the local needs and ensure its contribution not only college level education but to the social and economic development of the region also. The college has established itself over the years as one of the leading colleges of the university. At present there are 16 undergraduates Honours programs, 3 Post graduates programs. More over 20 general subjects are offered to the students for opting any 3 subjects for pursuing degree program in general course in all 3 important streams: Arts, Science and Commerce. During the current session 2019-20 there are approximately 5500 students enrolled in different programs.
The teaching learning process is enriched and made productive by rich experience of teachers and availability of up-to-date resources to students. As an affiliated college, the college follows the university norms of Semester-end examination and evaluation as well as for internal assessment/continuous evaluation but also enriches them for local adoptions as required by the efforts and participation by the teachers and students.
